You v. Global Climate Change

What is the greenhouse effect, and what do you have to do with it? Discover how greenhouse gases cause extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and the warming global temperature. Together we model the impact of these changes to our ecosystems, our health, and even our engineering considerations, then learn how to lower our own personal impact on the environment.

This is a 6-week, 1.5-hour class series that meets once weekly. Recommended for grades 6-8.

Under the Microscope: Cells & Organelles

Your introduction into microscopy starts here! Become familiar with all the parts of a compound microscope, and learn how to wield your objective lenses with confidence. All the while, we will be using our new tool to investigate the smallest building block of life: the cell. Is the mitochondrion really the powerhouse of the cell? CELL YEAH!

This is a 6-week, 1.5-hour class series that meets once weekly. Recommended for grades 6-8.

One-day Workshops

Science Fair extraordinaire Workshop

This interactive workshop demystifies the steps that go into creating a high-quality science fair project. We begin with breaking down the scientific method and explore different kinds of research questions and research designs. We wrap up with learning to how to display and communicate results. By the end of this 1.5-hour workshop, you’ll have the confidence and know-how to start your project and have fun while doing it.

This is a one-day, 1.5-hour workshop. Recommended for grades 6-8.

Study Skills & Time Management Workshop

It is never too late or early to learn how to build the habits of study success. Do you feel like things come easy and you do well without studying? This is a trap! This won’t last forever. Do you feel like you’re struggling so you tend to give up before you even begin? That doesn’t have to last forever! In this workshop wherever you are on this spectrum, you can be sure to become familiar with the tools that will help you with test taking, studying, academic stress, and time management. We will practice structuring, outlining, and managing your unique study/school schedule so you leave with a solid plan.

This is a one-day, 1.5-hour workshop. Recommended for grades 6-8.
